Theresa Dolezal

Theresa Dolezal, 59, of Lincoln, died Aug. 2 due to complications from ALS disease.

Dolezal, who retired from UNL in June, worked for 20 years at the front desk of the Office of Admissions. She also developed training procedures and resources, and statistical reports to improve UNL’s service to students and families. She was diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, in December.

Dolezal graduated from Lincoln High School in 1975 and the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in 1994. While in Colorado Springs, she worked as a tour coordinator at the U.S. Olympic Training Center, a study skills presenter at the University of Colorado’s learning center, and a marketing assistant at Current.

During her time at UNL, Dolezal assisted thousands of students, staff and the public. In her free time, she enjoyed her cat, running, serving in her neighborhood, hosting fellowship times in her home and being an active member of the Lincoln Berean Church.

Dolezal was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Kay, and brother, Mike. Survivors include cousins, aunts and her uncle Alfred Pogee.

A funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Aug. 9 at Lincoln Berean Church, 6400 S. 70th St. Visitation is noon to 6 p.m. Aug. 7, and 4 to 8 p.m. Aug. 8 at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S. 14th St.

Internment will be at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial tributes should be directed to Lincoln Berean Church.
