The Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center and The Friends of the Ross will host John Waters’ one-man show “This Filthy World” live at the Rococo Theatre April 23.
Tickets are now on sale at https://www.theross.org.
Waters’ one-man show is a “vaudeville” act that celebrates the film career and obsessional tastes of the man William Burroughs once called “The Pope of Trash.” Focusing in on Waters’ early negative artistic influences and his fascination with true crime, exploitation films, fashion lunacy and the extremes of the contemporary art world, this joyously devious monologue elevates all that is trashy in life into a call to arms to “filth followers” everywhere.
There will be a special reception in the Van Brunt Visitors Cente immediately following the show from approximately 9-11 p.m. Attendees purchasing tickets in the $90-100 range for the reception will have an opportunity to meet Waters, get an autograph and/or have their pictures taken with him. Refreshments will be served and there will be a cash bar.
Tickets can be purchased through the Rococo box office by phone at 402-476-4467 or online at http://www.rococotheatre.com. Discounted tickets available for members of The Friends of the Ross and students with a valid student ID.
This performance will contain adult subject matter and language.
