David Bohnert will present this year’s “Frank and Margaret Leu Distinguished Lecture” at 3 p.m. Oct. 6 in the East Union as part of the Grassland Studies fall seminar series.
Bohnert is a ruminant nutritionist and extension beef cattle specialist at Oregon State University. He is also the director of the Eastern Oregon Agriculture Research Center.
Bohnert will discuss some concepts and considerations that can assist cow and calf producers and land managers in developing nutritional management strategies in rangeland environments. Specifically, he will cover environmental influences on forage quality, production responses to supplementation, strategies to modify grazing behavior and the use of alternative and complementary forages to increase forage availability and quality.
