Researchers from the National Drought Mitigation Center and UNL’s School of Natural Resources will discuss drought risk management in a 3:30 p.m., Oct. 2 seminar in the Hardin Hall auditorium. The session, “From Lewellen to Delhi: Drought Risk Management for the World,” is free and open to the public.
The discussion will feature UNL’s Michael Hayes, Mark Svoboda, Cory Knutson, Tsegaye Tadesse and Brian Fuchs. The researchers will highlight the wide variety of research and outreach activities taking place at the National Drought Mitigation Center.
The center was established in 1995 around the drought risk management program built by Don Wilhite. The mission of the NDMC is to reduce societal vulnerability to drought by promoting planning and the adoption of appropriate risk management techniques.
