A colloquium to guide UNL faculty and staff through the process of applying for U.S. Department of Agriculture’s plant protection and quarantine permits is 10 to 11:30 a.m. Sept. 18 in the East Union.
Anyone who works with, imports or transfers soil, plants, plant pests or plant pathogens is encouraged to attend the event, part of UNL’s Environmental Health and Safety Colloquium Series sponsored by EHS in partnership with the Office of Research and Economic Development. Pre-registration is not required.
Jeffrey Marker and Timothy Miller, plant safeguarding specialists with USDA-Animal Plant Health Inspection Service, will discuss when and why PPQ permits are needed and how to apply. A question and answer session will follow. An archived copy of the presentation will be available online at http://research.unl.edu/laboratorysafetycolloquium/ within two weeks of the event.
