Jerry Thompson
The people of Lincoln and their beloved pets are invited to a “Blessing of the Animals” to celebrate St. Francis Day at 4 p.m. Oct. 4 in the courtyard of St. Mark’s on the campus Episcopal Church and Student Center, located at 13th and R streets.
Jerry Thompson will bless the animals present, and for those who cannot be there in person, Thompson will bless toys, tags or other tokens.
Sandy, the Thompson family dog, will be assisting Thompson in this annual gathering in honor of Francis of Assisi, who left behind a life of wealth to become a friar and preacher who was later canonized as a saint. He is the patron saint of animals and the environment.
