UNL selects Passport as parking meter payment partner

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln has chosen Passport as its new mobile parking payment partner.

Passport, which replaces the MobileNow system, is the industry leader in mobile payment technology for parking and leverages an enterprise level platform to bring efficiency and flexibility to the university environment.

Passport will be available in metered parking location on UNL’s City and East campuses, effective Aug. 24. The company also provides services for the city of Lincoln.

“We selected the Passport mobile parking solution because of its ability to fulfill the university’s needs and to provide a single system across both the city’s and university’s meters.” said Dan Carpenter, director of Parking and Transit Services.

Access to Passport is available for free by creating an account at http://ppprk.com/park. Smartphone users can also download the PassportParking app via the iTunes or Google Play stores. The app allows users to pay for parking meters directly from mobile phones.

Stickers and decals on campus parking meters include information on how to access the Passport app.

With the Passport service, parking meters will not update to reflect time purchased by phone. However, customers will not have to display any proof of payment as parking enforcement officers can view payments through a wireless handheld device.
