Archives and Special Collections launches new request system

Beginning Jan. 20, Archives and Special Collections in the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Libraries will begin using a new researcher request and appointment management tool called My A&SC account. Everyone interested in using materials from Archives and Special Collections, including community users and researchers visiting from other institutions, will be able to make an account to manage their research appointment.

The software behind My A&SC is Aeon, a tool designed specifically for archives and special collections. With Aeon, researchers and visitors to Archives and Special Collections can create an account to request materials to use in the reading room, request reproductions and schedule appointments. Users will also be able to securely access information about their past requests in the system.

The link to My A&SC will be found on the main Archives and Special Collections web page and other affiliate pages. UNL users will log in with their UNL credentials but still need to register to place requests and use the reading room. All other researchers, including those from other institutions in the NU system, will need to register and set up a login.

Archives and Special Collections is excited to join more than 100 research libraries from around the world in using Aeon to help researchers manage their research with archival materials and rare books. A software solution does not, of course, replace an archivist, and the university's archivists remain committed to assisting everyone interested in using Archives and Special Collections materials. If you have questions about the new system or would like to request research assistance, contact Archives and Special Collections at archives@unl.edu.
