Kiewit Hall construction remains on pace for a spring 2024 opening. Removal of the crane used for exterior construction will cause a March 14 shutdown of pedestrian and vehicle traffic along Vine Street.

Progress on campus construction will temporarily close a stretch of Vine Street on March 14.

The closure will impact pedestrian and vehicle traffic on Vine Street between Antelope Valley Parkway and 17th Street. It will allow for the removal of the crane used to build Kiewit Hall. The work is planned to coincide with the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s spring break (March 13-17), a time when campus traffic is reduced.

Vine Street is expected to reopen for regular use on March 15.

Scheduled to open in time for the spring 2024 semester, Kiewit Hall will be one of the nation’s premier facilities teaching the next generation of engineers. It will house the university’s construction management programs alongside classrooms, instructional labs, Engineering Student Services, makerspaces for student organizations and a large outdoor plaza.

The $115 million build is supported by a $25 million gift from Kiewit Corporation.
