Environmental Health and Safety seeks info on use of methylene chloride

Campus aerial

The Environmental Protection Agency recently issued new rules to limit the use of methylene chloride and all products that contain the chemical. Also known as dichloromethane, methylene chloride has multiple uses including paint removal, cleaning and degreasing, sealants, adhesives and laboratory solvent.

In compliance with the new regulation, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Department of Environmental Health and Safety seeks information on the use of methylene chloride on campus. All members of the university community who use the chemical in work or research on campus are asked to fill out a form here. Details provided will help advance a university-wide compliance strategy.
