Kentucky researcher to give talk on rural substance use treatment and recovery

Carrie Oser, a research professor at the University of Kentucky, will give a virtual talk, “Substance Use Treatment and Recovery Among People Involved in the Criminal Legal System in Rural Areas,” at 1:30 p.m. March 13 via Zoom. The event is free and open to the public.

Oser will present social network and qualitative data collected from both rural and urban individuals involved in the criminal legal system, as well as criminal legal system substance use disorder treatment staff.

Her presentation will identify differences in social network characteristics among rural and urban system-involved individuals, examine how these social network differences impact treatment and recovery outcomes and introduce a new method of Health social network intervention designed to support recovery for system-involved individuals in rural communities.
