Two new films, “Legend of the Demon Cat” and “The Invisibles,” open at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center March 15.
“Legend of the Demon Cat”
Based on the bestselling novel by Baku Yumemakura, “Legend of the Demon Cat” is a supernatural mystery set in ancient China during the Tang Dynasty. The film follows a Chinese poet and Japanese monk as they investigate a demonic cat and decades-old curse that wreak havoc on the imperial court.
“Legend of the Demon Cat” plays through March 21.
“The Invisibles”
Set in 1943 Berlin, “The Invisibles” is the true story of four Jewish survivors who escaped the informants and spies of the Third Reich by hiding in plain sight. Historically, 1,700 Jewish citizens remained in the Nazi capital throughout the war, and “The Invisibles” uses testimony from these survivors throughout the film.
“The Invisibles” plays through March 21.
