The Lied Center for Performing Arts has released an extra 250 free tickets for University of Nebraska–Lincoln students to attend the Oct. 30 performance of Ballet Folklórico de Mexico.
Free ticket reservations can be made online and can be picked up at the Lied Center box office.
Created by Amalia Hernandez, Ballet Folklórico is one of the most celebrated folk ensembles in the world. The 60-artist ensemble, complete with a full mariachi band, returns to campus for an encore performance showcasing the music, dance and costumes of Mexican folklore from pre-Colombian through the modern era.
Prior to the show, the Lied Center Student Council hosts a pre-show party in the Johnny Carson Theater. Beginning at 6:30 p.m., the event will feature traditional Mexican dance lessons, snacks, and crafts that surround Mexican culture, specifically El Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead).
