The annual Friends of Maxwell Arboretum’s fall festival will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Oct. 24 in the Earl G. Maxwell Arboretum, near 38th and Holdrege streets on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s East Campus.
Events include children’s activities, mini pumpkin decorating, a tree planting, crafting with the Nebraska Forest Service and Nebraska Statewide Arboretum and cornhusking. Free Dairy Store ice cream and popcorn from the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture will be provided. There will also be opportunities to talk with tree and insect experts and other plant specialists.
Booths and displays will be provided by Kimmel Orchard, Audubon Nebraska Spring Creek Prairie, UNL Regional and Community Forestry, UNL Quilt Study Center and Museum, the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, UNL Recycling and more.
Parking is available in the Dental College parking lot, the East Campus Loop and areas near the Dairy Store.
The event is free and open to the public. Co-sponsors are the UNL Garden Friends and UNL Landscape Services.
