A new software system is helping the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Mail Services team track and alert employees to incoming packages.
The update allows members of the university’s Print, Copy, Mail and Distribution Services to scan packages into a dashboard that in turn notifies recipients via email about parcel arrivals and delivery. The system also allows recipients to have packages held at Mail Services for pickup.
“Due to concerns with email scams, we’ve been receiving a number of calls asking if this new system’s email notifications are legitimate,” said Karen Ouellette, incoming mail supervisor. “These are legitimate emails and not a scam.”
Ouellette said the upgrades system increases efficiency and makes it easier to provide package updates, especially with many employees continuing to work remotely due to COVID-19 protocols.
“We just want our people to know that their package has arrived,” Oullette said. “We think this email-based system gives the best opportunity for faculty and staff to respond with any special instructions — especially when normal delivery isn’t the best option.”
