Oscar nominee 'The Brutalist' opening Feb. 21 at the Ross

"The Brutalist," an Academy Award-nominated film exploring legacy and power in the building of America, opens Feb. 21 at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln's Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center.

Continuing is "Oscar Shorts 2025" until Feb. 27.

Escaping post-war Europe, visionary architect László Toth (Adrien Brody) arrives in America to rebuild his life, his work, and his marriage to wife Erzsébet (Felicity Jones) after being forced apart during wartime by shifting borders and regimes. On his own in a strange new country, Toth settles in Pennsylvania, where the wealthy and prominent industrialist Harrison Lee Van Buren (Guy Pearce) recognizes his talent for building. But power and legacy come at a heavy cost.

"The Brutalist" was nominated for multiple Academy Awards, including best picture and best actor.

The film, which is rated R, shows through March 6.
