As Memorial Stadium prepares to host the Savannah Bananas on June 13, campus leaders are working to minimize disruption and support a positive day‑to‑day experience for students, faculty, staff and visitors.

Due to anticipated attendance demand, as well as a concurrent event at Haymarket Park on June 11, temporary parking restrictions, lot closures and traffic adjustments will be implemented in the days leading up to the event.

While some parking areas near Memorial Stadium will be unavailable during this period, alternative parking options and clearly identified access routes have been established to help campus members continue their daily activities with as little disruption as possible.

What campus members can expect

Parking availability will be reduced in select areas around Memorial Stadium, and traffic patterns will change during event setup and teardown. Campus Parking and Transit Services encourages everyone who parks or travels near the stadium to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and follow posted signage.

Key dates to keep in mind include:

  • Event Load In / Setup: June 8–10 (increased traffic on the west side of Memorial Stadium)
  • Plaza Setup and Lot Closures: June 11 (Area A and Area F03/D01 close at 5 p.m.)
  • Street Closure: Restricted Access to Stadium Drive on event day June 13 and event load out on June 14

Some parking and traffic impacts will extend beyond the event day to support setup and related activities.

Parking changes and alternate options

Memorial Mall Parking (Areas A & F03/D01)

  • The areas will remain closed through event operations and will fully reopen by the morning of une 15, with barricades and signage in place during the closure.
Traffic and access near Memorial Stadium

  • June 11: Restricted access on Stadium Drive begins at 6:00 AM
  • June 12: Restricted access on Stadium Drive continues throughout the day
  • Drivers should plan alternate routes around the stadium area and allow additional travel time.

  • June 17: Stadium Drive is expected to fully reopen to traffic.
Plan Ahead

Throughout this period, temporary street and parking lot closures may affect typical commute and service routes. Parking and Transit Services is committed to clear communication, visible signage, and maintaining access wherever possible.

Campus members who regularly park or travel near Memorial Stadium are encouraged to:

  • Allow extra travel time
  • Use designated alternate parking locations
  • Follow posted signage and traffic control instructions
