The Symphonic Band, with special guests the Twin Lakes Duo, will present a concert, “From Darkness to Light,” at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 1 in Kimball Recital Hall.
The concert is free and open to the public. The concert will also be live webcast, with the link posted online the day of the performance.
“You’ll hear works by Suzanne Wieland, Katahj Copley, Alex C. Ehredt, John Mackey, Aaron Perrine and Ivan Trevino,” said Tony Falcone, senior lecturer and associate director of bands and conductor of the Symphonic Band. “The pieces on the concert are centered around themes of darkness, light and moving from one to the other. We’re excited to feature the Twin Lakes (percussion) Duo on Ivan Trevino’s ‘Run to the Light.’”
The Twin Lakes Duo includes Emily Salgado, Glenn Korff School of Music assistant professor of percussion, and Jimmy Stagnitti, percussionist. Formed in 2023, the Twin Lakes Duo strives to highlight underrepresented and living composers through their performances and commissions.
The Symphonic Band has the distinction of being the band program’s top symphonic ensemble.
