Prescott Gallery will present the 29th Annual Undergraduate Studio Art Competition, a juried exhibition of artwork by current undergraduate students in the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Department of Art and Art History.
The Undergraduate Studio Art Competition will be open from March 4-26 at the Prescott Gallery, 4728 Prescott Ave. Gallery hours are Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A reception will be held from 5-7 p.m. March 12. Awards will be announced at 6 p.m. Awards include the Jean R. Faulkner Memorial Awards, Department of Art and Art History First Year Award, Department of Art and Art History Sophomore Award, Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts, Dean’s Purchase Award and Entry Fee Awards.
This year’s juror, Launa Bacon, selected artwork from 22 students. Bacon is a multi-disciplinary artist who is motivated by the investigation of the relationships that occur between environmental ethics, gender issues and animal welfare. She is the founder and director of Darger HQ.
Undergraduate artists include: Madeline Cass, Brian Coate, Austin Coudriet, Anna Drehs, Samantha Evans, Makaela Harder, Sam Hardewig, Elizabeth Katt, Miranda Knutson, Phoebe Little, Ethan Lottman, Ryann Lynn, Kristin Mahan, Anthony Marx, Arianna Morfeld, Victoria Norton, Kaitlyn Petersen, Gina Pisto, Tanner Reckling, Megan Rook, Madison Svengard and Phuc Tran.
The Prescott Gallery Shop will feature ceramics, paintings and photographs by Phil Perry. Proceeds from the sale of Perry’s work will be donated to the WeCare Endowment.
Prescott Gallery is an exhibition space dedicated to showcasing contemporary art. The gallery serves as a connection point between the Lincoln community and the students and faculty at UNL.
