Nebraska’s student-led opera program will present the Broadway revival “Violet” at 7:30 p.m. April 12 and 3 p.m. April 14 in Westbrook Music Building, Room 130.
The production features a cast of Nebraska’s award-winning voice and theater performance students directed by Alisa Belflower, with music direction developed by Louis Claussen.
Winner of the Drama Critics’ Circle Award and Lucille Lortel Award for Best Musical when it premiered off-Broadway in 1997, “Violet” was revived on Broadway in 2014 to critical acclaim. The musical follows one girl, Violet, as she seeks to heal a childhood scar with the magical touch of a TV evangelist.
The performance is free and open to the public, but a limited number of tickets are available. Tickets can be purchased on the Nebraska theater website.
