The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Undergraduate Women in Business student organization will host the annual Women in Business Conference on Feb. 24. Aimed at the business community, young professionals and students, it includes a luncheon, breakout sessions and a panel discussion with the theme Innovation in Business.

This year’s conference, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Nebraska Innovation Campus, features a keynote by 2001 Nebraska alumna Angie Klein, vice president of marketing for new product innovation at Verizon.

Klein leads brand and creative strategy for a number of Verizon’s emerging businesses and product solutions, such as over-the-top video, telematics and the Internet of Things. She defines target markets, creates consumer awareness and advocacy and oversees creative development and agency management. The recipient of the Nebraska Young Alumni Achievement Award in 2011, Klein was a Nebraska Alumni Master in 2014. A 2016-17 David Rockefeller Fellow, she is a civic leader in New York City and also is on the Lower East Side Girls Club Board of Directors.

“This conference was created to give aspiring and current businesswomen the opportunity to learn and grow. This year’s focus on innovation opened the doors to a truly powerful panel of business leaders,” said Libby Gentry, a junior management and computer science major from Leawood, Kansas, and member of the conference planning committee.

Wendy Birdsall, president of the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, will open the conference. A graduate of Nebraska, Birdsall is on the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Committee of 100, the Bureau of Business Research Advisory Board, Nebraska Dream It Do It and the Community Advisory Council for Lincoln Public Schools.

Conference sponsors include Union Bank & Trust, Ameritas, Talent Plus and the Lincoln Community Foundation.

Registration is $60 and $20 for students. For a full schedule and details on how to register, click here.
