Race day is nine weeks away, but runners and walkers have quickly filled the 250 spots of the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources’ free 5K fun run. Due to the popular demand, an additional 100 registration spots have been added to the event, which takes place at 9 a.m. April 12 on East Campus.

“It’s going to be a great race day,” said Derek Niewohner, the fun run’s co-director. “A couple years ago we only had 40 participants. Now we are going to break 300. We are excited that UNL students and the community are supporting the college at this fun activity.”

Online registration is available on a first-come, first-served basis at http://go.unl.edu/funrun. Entries will stop when the extra 100 spots are filled.

The annual event is open to faculty, staff, students and the public. Walkers and runners of all ages are invited. Prizes will be awarded for best costume, top male and female finisher and top master male and female (ages 40 and up) finishers.

Course map, waivers, and event details available at the registration webpage. Participants will receive an email with final details and reminders in the week preceding the fun run.

The CASNR Fun Run is unofficially timed for purpose of prizes, however official times will not be recorded or posted. This event is truly a “fun run” for every participant to have the best experience possible.

The event is a cooperative project of CASNR and UNL Campus Recreation. For more information, contact Derek Niewohner or Christopher Dulak 402-472-8749.
