Choir offers Carnegie Hall preview

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s flagship choir, the University Singers, will be presenting a concert at 7:30 p.m. on March 1 in Kimball Recital Hall.

The performance will include all of the music that the choir will be performing in New York’s Carnegie Hall later that month. Music will include seminal music by Samuel Barber, Giovanni Gabrieli, the Renaissance British composer Robert Parsons, Ralph Vaughan Williams, plus American tunes, a relatively new American spiritual and a brand new arrangement of a Phil Collins piece in the style of the multiple Grammy-winning vocal group Pentatonix.

The University Singers are led by Peter Eklund, professor of music.

Tickets, available at the door, are $5 general admission and $3 for students and senior citizens. The performance will also be webcast at http://arts.unl.edu/music/webcasts.
