Husker Food Connection will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 16 on the Nebraska Union Plaza.

HFC helps urban students learn about agriculture and better understand how their food is produced. The theme for this year’s event is “Food: Fact or Fiction.” Organizers want to address some of the common myths associated with modern food production, answer questions and get the conversation started about where food comes from.

“Our goal is to put a face behind the food that people eat,” said HFC coordinator Lukas Fricke. “We want to help bridge the gap between the producers of East Campus and the consumers of City Campus.” Fricke is from Ulysses and a junior in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.

The event will also feature a free lunch catered by Skeeter Barnes. Agri-educational displays will have live animal enclosures with a cow, calf, egg-laying chickens and feeder pigs.

UNL agricultural students, the Collegiate Farm Bureau club and A-FAN, the Alliance for the Future of Agriculture in Nebraska, will organize the annual event. A-FAN is a non-profit organization formed by leading agricultural membership groups in Nebraska to encourage the development of environmentally responsible and economically viable livestock production in the state.
