Mueller Planetarium to host 'Fulldome Festival' June 28

Mueller Planetarium at the University of Nebraska State Museum in Morrill Hall will host a special day of six different fulldome shows June 28 in Nebraska’s first fulldome digital projection theater.

From a new solar system show for kids to exploring Antarctica, these shows embody the ability of the fulldome to provide new immersive experiences. Visitors can see all shows for one price.

The shows are: 11 a.m. — “Rusty Rocket’s Last Blast”; noon — “Chasing the Ghost Particle”; 1 p.m. — “Origins of Life” and “Touching the Universe” (two short shows); 2 p.m. — “Dream to Fly”; 3 p.m. — “Back to the Moon for Good” (with added night sky talk) and 4 p.m. — “Solar Quest.”

Individual tickets for individual shows $3 for adults and $2.50 for children. In addition a “Fulldome Pass” good for three or more shows will be available for $10 for adults (including UNL faculty, staff and students) and $7 for children. Members of the Friends of the NU State Museum will receive a discount.

The University of Nebraska State Museum of Natural History in Morrill Hall and Mueller Planetarium are south of 14th and Vine streets on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln City Campus. Parking is free in front of the museum. Museum admission is $6 for adults (19 and over), $3 for children (5-18 years), free for children 4 and under, and $13 for families (up to two adults and children). UNL staff, faculty and students are admitted free with NU ID. Tickets to planetarium shows are in addition to museum admission and can be purchased the museum’s front desk.
