UNL Information Technology Services is holding a number of events in October to increase security awareness during National Cyber Security Awareness Month.
“There are two important points we want the campus to know,” said Cheryl O’Dell, UNL senior information security analyst. “First, awareness is the best defense to being more secure. Secondly, the campus community has access to a number of tools and services that we can provide for individuals as well as departments to create levels of security that will protect them and their data.”
“Cyber Security Thursdays” will feature walk-by security tips and treats. This event will be Oct. 9 and 23 at the East Union and Oct. 16 and 30 at the Nebraska Union.
“Security Speed Rounds” are fun one-hour sessions to create awareness around phishing, data classification, Wi-Fi security and social media. The East Union event will be 9:30 a.m. Oct. 13, and the Nebraska Union event will be 9:30 a.m. Oct. 27.
