Photo of the Day — Water maintenance

Ken North, a utilities maintenance technician with UNL’s utility services, uses a water cut-off key to test water shutoff valves north of Andrews Hall. North said regular maintenance on the university’s underground valves includes removing accumulated rainwater with a wet/dry vacuum, applying grease directly to the valve, testing the valve shutoff and painting metal ground covers. The work is completed to assure that the valve can be turned off in an emergency situation.
