The UNL Research Fair on Nov. 19 will be a busy day with events spread throughout.
The Defense Funding Opportunities Breakfast in the Nebraska Union will feature current and former Department of Defense program officers at 8 a.m. Students, postdocs and faculty can interact informally with the speakers at a Research Café later in day at 4 p.m. in the Nebraska Union Crib.
Also at 8 a.m., the Postdoc and Mentor Awards Breakfast will be held in the Jackie Gaughan Multicultural Center. Keith Micoli, chair of the National Postdoctoral Association board of directors, will give a keynote address. Later, at 10 a.m., Micoli will lead a workshop called “Learning to Lead: Lessons from the Bench.” The UNL Office of Postdoctoral Studies is hosting both events.
The UNL’s Center for Children, Youth, Families and Schools marks its 10th anniversary with a breakfast event at 8:30 a.m. called “Education Funding, Research and Opportunity: CYFS at 10 and Beyond,” in the Wick Alumni Center. Thomas W. Brock, commissioner of the National Center for Education Research, is the keynote speaker.
At 9:30 a.m., a panel will discuss “Broadening Participation in STEM: Strategies for Success” in the Nebraska Union.
The Faculty Recognition Lunch, an annual celebration of faculty accomplishments, will be in the Nebraska Union Centennial Room with registration at 11:15 a.m. and the buffet starting at 11:30 a.m.
