Transgender Day of Remembrance activities on campus

Remembering those we have lost

Transgender Day of Remembrance is a day to memorialize all those lost to anti-transgender violence and to advocate against continued violence against the trans community. The LGBTQA+ Resource Center at UNL will host two Nov. 20 events commemorating this day.

“Transgender Awareness” is a presentation about transgender history, identities, rights, and policies. It will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Nov. 20 in the Nebraska Union. Lunch will be provided to those who RSVP via email to lgbtqa.library@unl.edu.

A “Transgender Day of Remembrance Vigil” will be held in memory of trans people who died due to transphobic assaults. The vigil is 7 p.m. Nov. 20 in the Nebraska Union Colonial A.

In addition, a showing and discussion of the film “Milk” is 4 to 6 p.m. Nov. 20 in the LGBTQA+ Resource Center, Nebraska Union, Room 346. The screening is part of the Queer Film Fridays series.
