#UNL24 showcases day in the life of UNL

UNL officials are encouraging students, faculty, staff and alumni to “Seize the Day and Share Your #UNL24 Story.” UNL is sponsoring #UNL24 on Sept. 24, a one-day social media surge to collect stories from across campus to represent 24 hours of life at the university.

Students, faculty, staff and alumni can to post photos, shoot video or just share what’s going on in their life during the 24-hour span by including the #UNL24 hashtag in their posts on Twitter, Instagram, Vine and Google+. The stories will then be curated and together they will tell the collective story of what it’s like to be a part of UNL.

Last year, hundreds of stories were shared, collected and displayed in a digital timeline to tell one UNL story. This year’s event, which starts at 12:01a.m. Tuesday and concludes at 11:59 p.m., will feature a close-to-real-time feed, where users can view the stories they have shared as well as others from across campus. The feed will be visible at UNL24.unl.edu.

In conjunction with #UNL24, many campus groups are creating social situations that are naturally shareable to highlight their specific area and further help tell the collective story of what it’s like to be a part of UNL.

“We’re encouraging groups to do what they normally do, but to make sure they share it on social media,” said Tyler Thomas, social media specialist for University Communications. “There are a lot of unique things going on every day across campus and this day is designed to help us all share your expertise, passion and life with the rest of the UNL community.”
