In a free, virtual presentation at 3 p.m. April 28, Paul Gorski, founder of the Equity Literacy Institute, will provide details on how the university community can make impactful changes for diversity and inclusion.
During the "When Appreciating Diversity Is Not Enough," Gorski will discuss how to ensure real shifts are prioritized over optics in equity, diversity and inclusion commitments.
The live Zoom webinar, hosted by UPC Nebraska and the Global Nebraska Coalition on Diversity and Inclusion, will include a presentation from Gorski followed by a question-and-answer session. The event is also sponsored by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion and Student Affairs.
Gorski has more than 20 years of experience helping educators, nonprofit workers, and others strengthen their equity efforts. He has published more than 70 articles and 12 books on various aspects of educational equity including “Reaching and Teaching Students in Poverty: Strategies for Erasing the Opportunity Gap” and “Case Studies on Diversity and Social Justice Education” (with Seema Pothini). He is also the author of the “Multicultural Pavilion,” an online compendium of free resources for educators. Gorski earned his doctorate in educational evaluation at the University of Virginia.
The virtual event is free and open to all university students, staff and faculty. However, attendees must pre-register.
